Frank Bunkert
Gilbreth was born in 1868 in Fairfield, Mains. He was a high school graduate
who worked his way up from brick layer apprentice to become General Superintendent
of a construction firm. In his serch for administrative improvements,
he was led to develop time and motion study as an approach to scientific
management. In 1911 with his wife Lillian he founded a firm of consulting
engineers. The Gilbreth family of 12 children became famous when 2 of
the children, Frank, Jr. & Ernestine wrote CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN in
1949....a humourous recount of the Gilbreth Family world.
