The Odd Couple by Neil Simon

Directed for MTG by Jennie Lembach

The Odd Couple centers on Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar, two recently divorced men who decide to share an apartment in New York City. Oscar is a sloppy, carefree sportswriter, while Felix is obsessively tidy, anxious, and emotionally fragile. Their opposite lifestyles initially seem manageable, but soon their differences create escalating tension, arguments, and comedic misunderstandings. Through humor, the play examines friendship, divorce, masculinity, and the challenge of coexisting with someone fundamentally different.

A Christmas Story

Directed for MTG by Melissa Schnepper

Assistant Director Marcia Bredeson

Based on the beloved holiday film, A Christmas Story leans into humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s.  The story follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get “An Official Red Ryder, Carbine Action, 200-shot, Range Model Air Rifle, with a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time” BB Gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on an icy cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a fishnet stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. A Christmas Story is destined to become a theatrical holiday perennial.
